BEGINNINGS

The Holy Cross Ministry of Deliverance and Healing was founded in 1982 by Stephen K. P. Bong. It began as a rosary prayer group, evolved into a charismatic prayer group, and finally became a ministry of deliverance and healing. This was made possible through the Lord’s support in its handling of many cases which required deliverance and healing.

In 1993, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Kuching, Datuk Peter Chung, the Holy Cross Centre opened its doors, and it has continued to serve the needs of the local community in Kuching, as well as people who come to hear about the ministry from afar. At the Centre, spiritual counselling and praying over are ministered to Catholics, Christians of all denominations, and non-Christians.

Holy Cross Ministry is registered officially as a lay Catholic Organization with St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Kuching Archdiocese.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

·       To support the Catholic Church in its evangelical mission through the ministry’s main charism of deliverance and healing.

·       To promote Spiritual Growth in the lives of Christians through Spiritual Growth Seminars and Faith Formation Programmes which help participants to become better equipped to serve their respective parish organizations, and partake in more wholesome Christian living.

·       To conduct leadership seminars for leaders of prayer groups and other church organizations, with focus on the development of the fruits of the Holy Spirit,  and the prudent exercise of the gifts of the Holy Spirit

·       To offer spiritual counselling and praying over for deliverance and healing through Holy Cross Centre.

ACTIVITIES

·       HOLY CROSS CENTRE

The Centre is open to Catholics, Christians of all denominations and Non-Christians. Holy Cross leaders take turns to be on duty to minister to those who come to the Centre. On an average day, about 30 to 40 people from all walks of life come to the Centre for counselling and praying.  Indeed the Lord has supported the leaders powerfully in ministering deliverance and healing.

Holy Cross Centre provides counselling and praying over on weekdays (except public holidays and holy days of obligation):

The Centre is open from Monday-Friday between 9.00 am to 12 noon, and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

It is also open at night on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

·       PRAYER MEETINGS

All core-leaders and prayer warriors are strongly encouraged to attend, but members of the local parish community, Christians of all denominations, as well as non-Christians are welcome.

During the weekly “Tuesday fellowship”, the Word of God is shared, followed by the praying of the rosary, and singing of hymns in praise and worship of God. A spiritual teaching is also shared by one of the core-leaders at every fellowship night. There are usually about 60 to 70 people attending each week.

Time: Every Tuesday* from 7:30 pm to about 9.00 pm.

Place: St. John/St. Lucy Room, 2nd Floor, ACCPC, St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

*Except public holidays and holy days of obligation

·       PRAYER WARRIOR SESSIONS

Core-leaders and prayer warriors meet weekly for intercessory prayer sessions since 1995.

To become a prayer warrior one has to first attend and complete our Faith Formation Programme. We have about 60 active participants who meet every Sunday at 8pm in St. John/St. Lucy’s Room 2nd Floor, St. Joseph ACCPC.

They intercessory prayers are meant to support the Church, ministry works, and for those who seek help from the ministry.

Prayer warriors who are interested to offer themselves more committedly in the ministry’s activities, especially in serving at Holy Cross Centre, are considered for membership as core-leaders.

·       FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMME

Through the Faith Formation Program, participants will experience the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to enable them to live a more committed Christian life.

Individuals, couples and families will learn how to develop more caring and loving relationships. Lay leaders would become better equipped to serve their parishes.

Participants will experience Spiritual Growth in their lives, with a deeper desire for prayer, the Word of God and Holy Mass. They will learn that the Christian faith remains most relevant in facing the challenges of modern living because only Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Announcements are made in the Cathedral every year as to when the Faith Formation Programme will start. The programme will run at St. Augustine’s Room, St. Joseph’s Parish Centre, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm every Sunday (unless otherwise informed). It takes 20 sessions/Sundays to complete this programme (over about 6 months). DVDs of the whole programme ae available for purchase.

Over the last 5 years, the Faith Formation Programme has also been carried out via weekly showing of training dvds at selected parishes in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. (The required practical sessions are carried out over a weekend by Holy Cross leaders in person).
